GREEN BAY (AP) - Julie Wojta scored 12 points and No. 12 Wisconsin-Green Bay set a school record by improving to 17-0 Saturday with an 80-58 victory over Cleveland State.
Sarah Eichler, Lydia Bauer and Stephanie Sension also scored 12 apiece for the Phoenix (7-0 Horizon League). Green Bay hasn't lost a regular-season game since a 63-60 defeat at Marquette on Dec. 12, 2010.
The Phoenix had just two turnovers and shot 47 percent in building a 43-23 halftime lead.
Honesty King led Cleveland State (8-10, 3-4) with 19 points.
Green Bay went 34-2 last season. The Phoenix is trying to keep focused on each game, rather than looking too far ahead.
"You come off a 34-2 team and you wonder how you could ever compare to anything like that," coach Matt Bollant said. "We've got a long way to go yet. We're going to be measured by what we do in March and we've got to keep getting better. That's what we talked about in the locker room - have that drive that it's just not good enough."
Green Bay players say the best start in school history means nothing compared to what a single win in the NCAA tournament would represent.
"You can go have an undefeated season and lose the last game and what did that mean? Nothing," senior guard Hannah Quilling said. "Something we strive for is we set our standards for ourselves so high sometimes we'll win by 20 and go in the locker room feeling like we lost because we weren't playing up to our level.
"To be honest with you the records, they don't mean a lot to us right now. At the end of the season, that's where we want to be setting records. Right now it's just icing on the cake at this point."
The Phoenix said they celebrated for just a brief moment after this win set the school record.
"Maybe a second," Eichler said. "Once there's a win we go in the locker room, we talk about it - there's a win - we have a day off and then it's on to the next."
