LSU embraces BCS rematch with Alabama, but history shows it can be tough to beat a team twice

NEW ORLEANS (AP) â€" Top-ranked LSU has embraced a rematch with Alabama for the national title.

History says it might be a tough task to beat the second-ranked Crimson Tide a second time.

Back in 1996, Florida State edged Florida in the regular-season finale, then had to face the Gators again in the Sugar Bowl. Florida romped to a 52-20 win and claimed the national title. Former Seminoles coach Bobby Bowden says it was tougher to get his players motivated for the rematch against the Gators. He would've preferred to play a different opponent.

LSU (13-0) insists that it's looking forward to another game against Alabama (11-1), even after winning 9-6 in overtime back in early November. In fact, Tigers lineman T-Bob Hebert expects both teams to be much looser this time around.
