Virginia Tech RB David Wilson to skip senior season, enter NFL draft; was ACC player of year

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) â€" Virginia Tech running back David Wilson says he'll skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Wilson made his announcement at a news conference Friday in Blacksburg with Hokies coach Frank Beamer at his side. He calls his decision a lifetime goal that he "couldn't pass up."

Wilson says the NFL's draft advisory board projects him as a second-round pick and he believes he can improve his status at the NFL combine.
