Milwaukee Brewers' Nyjer Morgan battles for a foul ball with a fan in the 9th inning.
When players and fans get physical, things can get interesting.
Right fielder Nyjer Morgan, aka Tony Plush (@TheRealTPlush), took the player-fan relationship to the next level during Wednesday's Brewers-Reds game when the outfielder made a play on Devin Mesoraco's foul ball in the bottom of the ninth inning with Milwaukee ahead 8-4 at Great American Ball Park.
Morgan reached in the stands for the ball, but got tangled up with a Reds fan, who also tried to make the catch.
The sixth-year major leaguer - who has had his share of infamous incidents (including last October when he dropped F-bomb on live TV)Â - pulled his glove away and shoved the fan before exchanging words along the right-field line (no F-bombs recorded this time).
First base umpire Marty Foster ended the argument and Morgan would go on to dismiss the play after the game as "nothing major."
"It's just one of those things where we were tangled up; I could have made a play on the ball," Morgan said. "I just gave him a little, 'Get off me,' because he was all on my arm and everything. Nothing major, but everybody might blow it up a little differently."
"That's what the home fans are supposed to do, try to take the ball from the opposing team when the ball is in the stands. It's fair game once the ball is in the stands."
