The Milwaukee Brewers have signed another one of their first-round draft picks, this time it's supplemental first-round selection Mitch Haniger, reports Jim Callis of Baseball America. The Cal Poly university outfielder Mitch Haniger agreed to a $1.2 million signing bonus, which is below MLB's recommended slot signing bonus for the pick at $1,359,100.
Callis had this to say about the college outfielder: "Haniger's best tools are his plus power and arm strength. He also has a selective approach at the plate."
ESPN's Keith Law had similar sentiments about the pick, writing Haniger has "good bat speed and a chance to develop into an above-average defender in an outfield corner."
