Milwaukee Brewers Vs. Pittsburgh Pirates 6/1/12: Tyrone's Free MLB Baseball Pick - Sports Chat Place

The 24-29 Milwaukee Brewers finished off a four-game sweep of Major League Baseball’s leading 32-19 Los Angeles Dodgers in LA on Thursday. Milwaukee’s award is a trip back to Wisconsin where the rested 25-25 Pittsburgh Pirates await.

Milwaukee mauled the Dodgers 6-2 on Thursday thanks to three two-run innings beginning during the second and ending during the ninth. Rickie Weeks’ RBI-single and Martin Maldonado’s fielder’s choice put in the first two Brewers of the night. Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Gonzalez home runs followed for Milwaukee who draws next Pittsburgh, a 2-1 Wednesday winner over the 28-22 Cincinnati Reds in a rubber match.

4-2 A.J. Burnett with a 3.60 ERA outdueled 5-3 Johnny Cueto with a 2.54 ERA. Early look Cincinnati looked good taking a 1-0 lead during the top of the first. However Matt Hague’s two-run double during the bottom of the sixth sprung the Pirates ahead.  Burnett and the bullpen allowed two hits apiece as Burnett lasted seven innings despite the early trouble.

Pittsburgh, 30th in scoring, needs to score for 1-5 Kevin Correia with a 4.30 ERA on Saturday. The Pirates are 3-6 when Correia takes the bump, going 2-3 in games decided by a run. Correia shedded seven runs, six earned, during 16.1 innings of three Pittsburgh one-run losses at the 28-24 Atlanta Braves, 24-27 Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles. On April 15 Correia got his first win of the year at the 27-24 San Francisco Giants 4-1. Only letting in a run during six innings, Correia was brutal a month later at the Miami Marlins being milked for six runs during 3.2 innings of a 6-2 loss.

The Brewers are 39-for-124 with 16 RBIs, five from Ryan Braun and four from Ramirez, on Correia who duels with 2-4 Randy Wolf and a 5.73 ERA in Game One. The Dodgers and 27-24 St. Louis Cardinals beat Wolf by scorching in seven runs during 11 innings of two April appearances. Milwaukee also fell 4-3 at Miller Park on May 21 yielding three runs during seven innings off of Wolf. His only home win was on April 24 versus the 22-29 Houston Astros who knocked in two runs during six innings off of Wolf. Three of five Miller games thrown by Wolf have seen at least 12 runs. The Pirates aren’t scorers, but have nine RBIs, three from Pedro Alvarez, on 24-of-99 hitting against Wolf. Both teams are 6-4 in their last 10 and think will get theirs versus shaky starting pitching. Go with the Over as the Brewers may possibly get there themselves.
