Milwaukee Brewers Vs. New York Mets - Sports Chat Place

Milwaukee Brewers Vs. New York Mets 9/14/12 Mitch’s Free MLB Baseball Pick

The Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Mets face off in game one of a series between one of baseball’s hottest teams and one of baseball’s coldest teams.

The Milwaukee Brewers have played themselves back into contention for the NL Wildcard . The Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10 games, 44-28 at home this season, and they are three games out in the NL Wildcard race. As a team the Brewers are hitting .258 with Jonathan Lucroy hitting .322, Ryan Braun Hitting .310, and Aramis Ramirez hitting .296. As a team the Brewers pitching staff has an ERA of 4.20 with the starters at 4.02 and the bullpen at 4.54. For game one against the Mets Milwaukee starts Michael Fiers who has won three of his last four starts. For the season Fiers has allowed 99 hits and 37 earned runs while striking out 111 over 109.1 innings of work for a 3.05 ERA.

The New York Mets have lost their last six games in a row and they look to put an end to their tailspin. The Mets are 2-8 in their last 10 games, 35-37 on the road this season, and they are 24 games back in the NL East. As a team the Mets are hitting .251 with David Wright hitting .314, Ruben Tejada hitting .292, and Daniel Murphy hitting .291. As a team the Mets pitching staff has an ERA of 4.08 with the starters at 3.80 and the bullpen at 4.68. For game one against the Brewers New York starts Jon Niese who has lost his last three starts. For the season Niese has allowed 157 hits and 66 earned runs while striking out 140 over 171 innings of work for a 3.47 ERA.

Milwaukee is 8-1 in their last nine games against a left handed starter, 20-7 in their last 27 games overall, and 35-17 in their last 52 home games. New York is 5-2 in their last seven games as a road underdog, 1-5 in their last six games as an underdog, and 3-8 in Niese’s last 11 starts. New York is 1-4 in the last five meetings of these two.

This one has two pretty decent pitchers and should stay under the total and that’s my free pick here. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as making the pick available for individual purchase.
