ST. PAUL, Minn. - The quest to find a new stadium site for the Minnesota Vikings took a step forward Wednesday.
Minnesota's Governor Mark Dayton says he has a preference when it comes to the competing plans. He says the Minneapolis site on Linden Avenue would be the best fit.
It is near Target Field, which is where the Minnesota Twins baseball team plays. The proposed stadium would be just two miles from the Vikings current stadium.
However, Governor Dayton says he won't fully support any option until concerns about them are addressed. That includes how to pay for a new stadium.
Two other sites are also up for consideration. They include one in the Twins Cities suburb of Arden Hills and another Minneapolis site, which is also in the vicinity of Target Field.
The state Legislature returns to work next week with the stadium expected to dominate talks.
