The Milwaukee Brewers have dropped down four spots and are now ranked 16th in ESPN.com’s MLB Power Rankings. Milwaukee has lost four games in a row and were just recently swept by the Atlanta Braves, who have moved up 10 spots in the power rankings to be ranked 13th.
The Brewers have numerous issues on the mound and at the plate. They currently rank 27th in the majors and dead last in the National League  in team earned run average with a dismal 5.65 ERA. Milwaukee’s hitters are currently batting .230 which is ranked 24th in all of baseball. There is no excuse for a four-game losing streak within the first 10 games of the season when a team has as much talent on their roster as the Brewers do.
Clearly, inconsistency and a lack of quality pitching is the problem Milwaukee is facing. The pitchers cannot be surrendering eight runs when the hitters put up seven and the offense has to find a way to score more than one run when the pitching staff only gives up two.

Wily Peralta recorded his third straight successful start at Triple-A on Sunday and now has allowed just four runs, nine hits and six walks in 17 innings to go with 13 strikeouts. If Randy Wolf (10.61 ERA) or Chris Narveson (7.00 ERA) continues to struggle, Peralta should be the next man up. But when?
Moore makes a solid point. If starters Randy Wolf and Chris Narveson cannot get the job done then the Brewers should give prospect Wily Peralta a shot. I think both pitchers still have time before a decision like that is made, but if there is not some significant improvement within the rotation then manager Ron Roenicke will have no choice.
It is too early in the season to be giving jobs away, especially since the rest of the pitching staff has not done a whole lot better. The heart and soul of the bullpen, setup man Francisco Rodriguez and closer John Axford, have a combined 6.10 ERA in 6.1 innings of work.
