Milwaukee Brewers Getting Ready To Give Extensions - Rant Sports

Over the past few seasons, the Milwaukee Brewers have been quite successful. You can probably argue that is has something to do with the emergence of Ryan Braun in the lineup and the power that former first baseman Prince Fielder possessed helped carry the team. However, upper management in the Brewers organizations are getting ready to award two key people, general manager Doug Melvin and manager Ron Roenicke.

Melvin has been the Brewers general manager since 2002. Since that time the Brewers have had three winning records and have made the playoffs twice. They have come a long way since going 56-106 in Melvin’s debut season. Melvin has been responsible for bringing in Zack Greinke, Shaun Marcum and at one point CC Sabathia. Melvin also drafted terrific rookies like Fielder, Braun and J.J. Hardy. This year, Melvin brought in Aramis Ramirez and Randy Wolf.

As for manager Roenicke, he has been the Brewers manager since the 2011 season and established a 96-66 record in his first year. This season, the Brewers are 12-15 even with the loss of Fielder in free agency this season to the Detroit Tigers.

It seems like the team is really taking a liking to Roenicke being that a season before he was named manager, the team had not finished over .500 since 2008 when Ned Yost and Dale Sveum were managing the team.

Although this season the Brewers are starting off slow, the division is as wide open as it ever has been. Any team could really emerge as potential favorites to win the division. The Brewers have as a good as a chance as anyone.
