Badgers' Jordan Taylor may play summer league with Milwaukee Bucks - Chippewa Herald

MADISON - Jordan Taylor is leaning toward accepting an offer to play on the Milwaukee Bucks’ Summer League team in Las Vegas next month.

The former star point guard for the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball wasn’t among the 60 picks in Thursday night’s NBA draft, so he’ll try to make a roster as an undrafted free agent.

Earlier Friday, madison.com reported after a conversation with Taylor that he had accepted the Bucks' offer. Taylor clarified later in the day in a text message that he is "probably going in that direction" but hadn't officially accepted the offer.

Taylor said the Bucks were the only team as of Friday morning to offer him a Summer League roster spot.

The Summer League runs from July 13-22 at the Thomas and Mack Center and COX Pavilion on the UNLV campus. The Bucks play six games, starting on July 16 against New Orleans and concluding on July 22 against Chicago.

If Taylor does well enough, he could earn a training camp invite from the Bucks or another NBA team.

“I’m just going in to play as hard as I can,” Taylor said. “Just trying to get a spot.”

The fact he didn’t hear his name called Thursday night wasn’t shocking to Taylor. Mock drafts leading up to the event had the NCAA’s all-time leader in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.01) on the outside looking in.

Taylor helped lead the Badgers to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16 his last two seasons and is second all-time at UW in assists (564) and seventh in scoring (1,533) and 3-pointers made (180).

He said he’ll use the fact he wasn’t drafted as motivation to work harder.

“Every time you get a chance to play, it’s a chance to prove people wrong,” he said. “I think everybody has doubters and supporters, so this is definitely another opportunity (to prove myself).”
